JK wins laurels

Jammu and Kashmir Ranji Trophy Cricket team has made history by defeating the mighty Mumbai team. It has demonstrated collective team spirit of highest order with superb skill of bat and ball control. The youngsters under the stewardship of Parvez Rasool have won the appreciation of one and all in the State as they have brought honour and infused the younger generation with confidence that J&K can make its place in the national team. We are proud of Shubham Khajuria who has demonstrated superb batting talent by scoring a century in the first and 78 in the second inning. This made place for him to become the man of the match. No less has been the performance of two outstanding team bowlers   Ramdayal Punia and Omar Nazir who demonstrating their superb bowling skills bagged maximum wickets to be recognized as the promising bowlers from the State. The contribution by Hardeep Singh and Ian Dev Singh were equally important.
We have always held on to the belief that there is no dearth of sportsmen and women in our State. We have talent and capacity but the only thing is that proper coaching and opportunity and exposure are needed. We want that the Department of Youth and Sports to impress upon the authorities to allot more funds from the annual budget so that we have a widespread infrastructure that encompasses the population of rural educational institution to become feeders of talent to national pool. Let the success of our cricket team in the Ranji Trophy be the catalyst to bigger and more exciting out put of our sportsmen and women in times to come. We send them three cheers for they have brought honour to the State.
