JAMMU, Jan 23: The National Republic Day parade at Delhi besides other features, showcases the rich cultural heritage of the States through presentation of tableaux . As many as 14 States tableaux have been shortlisted through cumbersome process that started in the month of July.
It is a rare distinction for the State to showcase the rich cultural ethos. Jammu and Kashmir is one of the State to showcase the heritage.
This time the state is presenting a tableau on the Folk Dances of Jammu and Kashmir which include Flower dance from Ladakh, Ruff from Kashmir and Kud dance from Jammu. The themes for the tableau is selected by the high level Tableaux Committee headed by the Chief Secretary.
Others members include Principal Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Finance Department, Tourism and Culture Department, Home Department, Transport Department. The tableau of the state is finally selected by the Expert Committee headed by the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India.
A contingent of 30 artists drawn from Ladakh, Kashmir and Jammu will perform live during the presentation. Subsequently they will perform in President House, Vice Presidents House, before the Prime Minister, Defence Minister and Tribal Minister.
This presentation assumes significance as the President of America will get glimpses of rich cultural heritage of the Jammu and Kashmir.
