J&K Power Minister calls on Dr Jitendra

NEW DELHI, May 23: Jammu & Kashmir Power Minister, Sunil Sharma, currently on his maiden visit to union capital after taking over his present assignment, today called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh and discussed wide range of issues related to the Power Ministry as well as the Kishtwar Assembly constituency.
The popular demand for a Degree College for Paddar came up during the discussion, in response to which Dr Jitendra Singh informed Sunil Sharma that since a Degree college for Paddar did not figure in the list of Colleges approved by the State Government, now a proposal has been moved to get it sanctioned under the Government of India’s “Rashtriya Uchchatar Siksha Abhiyan” (RUSA) scheme. He expressed the hope that the formalities about the sanctioning of College will be completed very shortly.
Dr Jitendra Singh also referred to the proposal for upgrading the existing helipad at Kishtwar to develop an airstrip for enabling the landing of aircrafts. For this purpose, he said, as a follow-up to a high level meeting of top Army Commanders, in the presence of MoS Defence, an MoU is being worked out wherein the extra land required for the extended air-strip will be provided from the adjacent land, currently under the possession of Indian Army.
Sunil Sharma also conveyed his thanks to the Modi Government for initiating the work on the “Pakal Dul Power Project” which was formally started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Jammu & Kashmir on the 19th of this month. He said, it is a matter of pride for Kishtwar that the State’s biggest Power Project will be coming up in this region. After the commissioning of this project, most of the power requirements of the region will be successfully fulfilled, he added.
Sunil Sharma also discussed with Dr Jitendra Singh, the general political situation prevailing in Jammu & Kashmir. He also offered inputs regarding the law & order situation as well as the anti-militancy operations.
