JAMMU, Apr 7: In its efforts to provide protection gears to the police personnel fighting the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic across the Union Territory, J&K Police Welfare Centre is making masks and protective gear out of locally procured clothing here.
Masks and personal protective gears are being made for distribution among police personnel working tirelessly against COVID-19 in different hospitals and quarantine centres across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Jammu centre is preparing around 200 to 300 protective gears and around one thousand of masks each day and the same is being handed over to Police Headquarters for further distribution.
While talking to the EXCELSIOR, the In-charge of Police Welfare Centre in Jammu, Inspector Rimpy Khajuria said, “The fabric being used to make masks and protective gowns is authenticated by the doctors and is being procured locally due to the ongoing lockdown situation. We are making around 200 to 300 protective gear and around one thousand of masks each day and the same is being handed over to Police Headquarters for further distribution”,
“Work is underway at all centres across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir”, Inspector Rimpy Khajuria said, adding that the personnel deployed in quarantine centres will be equipped with these protective gears in the first instance as the exposure at these places is much higher.
Around 22 personnel are working in J&K Police Welfare Centre at Jammu with honesty and dedication, Inspector said, adding that all the precautionary measurers as prescribed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare are being followed by these personnel.
Since lockdown announced the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the J&K Police Welfare at Jammu started making masks and protective gears for the police personnel deputed in various hospitals and quarantine centres in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Inspector Rimpi Khajuria informed.
It is pertinent to mention here that there are total 124 confirmed cases of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-29) pandemic in J&K till today including four cured and three deaths.
