J&K Guv to hold meeting of Unified headquarters next week

JAMMU :  In view of inputs that Pakistan-based militant outfits would try to disrupt Republic Day celebrations by attacking ‘soft targets’ in Jammu and Kashmir, Governor N N Vohra has called for a meeting of the Unified Headquarters next week.
“In a meeting held to review the security scenario in the state, the Governor N N Vohra has directed that a meeting of the Unified Headquarters (UHQ) be convened before the end of next week,” an official Raj Bhawan spokesman said.
Lt General K H Singh, General Officer Commanding of the 16 Corps of the Army, had recently warned that Pakistan-backed militant outfits might try to attack ‘soft targets’ in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of US President Barack Obama’s India visit later this month.
“There are general inputs that terrorists might try to attack soft targets, including schools, religions places, Army convoys and other civilian areas,” he had said, adding that the Army was fully prepared to foil any such nefarious designs of the terrorist organisations. (AGENCIES)
