J&K grants ownership of 3.48 lakh kanals of land to occupants

JAMMU :  The Jammu and Kashmir government has granted ownership of 3.48 lakh kanals of land to its occupants under the state’s Roshni scheme.

“An area measuring 3.48 lakh kanals has been approved by the government for vesting of ownership to the occupants by the concerned District Price Fixation Committees under Roshni Scheme in the state,” Minister of State for Revenue Ajaz Ahmad Khan while replying to a question by Jehangir Hussain Mir in the Legislative Council today.

He said an amount of Rs 76.51 crore has been deposited by the occupants as reported by the concerned Divisional Commissioner. The minister further informed the House that 75,401 applications were pending before the authorities for giving the rights of land to the occupants under the scheme.

He said that since the Grow More Food Scheme a separate programme, the land allotted to farmers under the scheme was not being covered under Roshni scheme and there was no proposal to bring such lands within its ambit. (AGENCIES)
