NEW DELHI:
BJP may have made a climbdown on its position on Article 370 as to form an alliance Government with PDP in Jammu and Kashmir, but the RSS has said that the new regime is a “tribute” to party ideologue Shyama Prasad Mookerjee.
The RSS mouthpiece Organiser also said that running the Government will be a tightrope walk, especially for PDP, and keeping away from the pressure of “separatist tendencies” and focusing on development and providing transparency in governance will be key.
“J&K joining the mainstream political agenda is a real tribute to the first martyr of independent India, Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, who always insisted on the State’s complete integration with the Indian Union. This Government formation should be seen in this light,” Organiser said in an editorial.
The publication said there is a competition within the ‘secular’ camp to term this “historic moment” as politics of convenience and the rivals are “hoping” that this alliance further strains the relationship between Kashmir and Jammu on communal lines.
“The stated positions of both BJP and PDP on crucial issues may be the reason behind that. If we analyse this political development carefully, it is a historic moment for the State and India,” it said.
It said running this Government will be a tightrope walk, especially for the PDP, but if interests of the people are kept in mind, this will be a historic opportunity. (AGENCIES)
