J&K gets Rs 616.11 cr under DDUGJY: Govt

SRINAGAR, June 8: Government today said that Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) was sanctioned by the Centre for Jammu and Kashmir in 2009 for Rs 1817.26 crore.
In a written reply to a question of MLA Pawan Gupta in Lower House, the Minister Incharge Power said that the aim of implementation of R-APDRP in the state is to reduce the AT&C losses to 15 per cent after completion of the project.
The Minister said the R-APDRP scheme is to be completed in a time bound manner failing which the grant in aid will be converted into loan on the request of the State Government.
He said that it is expected that the scheme would be completed in a time bound manner in the State. The Minister stated that Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) has been sanctioned for Rs 616.11 crore for 21 districts of the State by the Centre.
He said that Rs 14.96 crore has been sanctioned for Udhampur constituency under the scheme. “Rs 1.04 crore have been utilized for electrification of un-electrified hamlets/households and creation of new sub-station in Udhampur constituency since 2010,” he stated.
Responding to the supplementary questions of MLA Ranbir Singh Pathania, MLA Mohammad Ashraf Mir, MLA Raja Manzoor and MLA Dina Nath Bhagat, the Deputy Chief Minster Dr Nirmal Singh said the Government would ensure up-gradation of power scenario equally in all areas of the State under centrally sponsored schemes.
He said efforts are on to replace worn-out poles and old wiring besides up-gradation of receiving stations across the State. He said that all the left-out un-electrified areas are being covered under DDUGJY and R-APDRP schemes.
