J&K FSL re-organized with creation of 88 addl posts

JAMMU, Oct 24: Following the State Administrative Council decision, the Home Department today issued formal order on much awaited re-organization of J&K Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) with four divisions in FSL Jammu and FSL Srinagar.
However, the most significant aspect of the re-organization is creation of 88 additional posts; 10 Gazetted and 60 Non-Gazetted in Technical Cadre, three Gazetted and 15 Non-Gazetted in the Ministerial Cadre.
Besides, 28 posts have been abolished with immediate effect. These include 10 posts of drivers and seven of Junior Photographers.
The divisions of Narcotics, Chemistry and Toxicology have been merged and named as the Division of Narcotics/Chemical. While the Divisions of Biology, Serology and DNA have been merged and named as the Division of Biology/Serology. The DNA Division shall be a part of Biology/Serology Division of FSL Srinagar.
Similarly, the Divisions of Physics and Ballistics have been merged in the Division of Physics while the Divisions of Cyber and Documents have been merged and named as the Technical Division.
The Lie Detection Division will be abolition from the date the Supernumerary post of Deputy Director, Lie Detection/Documents, presently held by Masarat Jabeen fall vacant due to her promotion/retirement on superannuation.
The one post of Deputy Director, Chemistry & Toxicology has been re-designated as Deputy Director Narcotics/Chemical while two posts of Deputy Director, Physics and Ballistics have been re-designated as Deputy Director Physics and one post of Deputy Director Documents as Deputy Director, Technical.
There will be establishment of 22 District Mobile Forensic Units (DMFU) in each District, including Leh and Kargil, each comprising of one Lab Technician and one Lab Attendant.
Further, there will be creation of 66 posts, to be filled by deputation of Police Personnel, including 22 Head Constables, 22 Sgct and 22 Constables.
Meanwhile, the Home Department today also issued separate order for engagement of five retired Assistant Scientific Officers of FSL J&K on contractual basis.
These include Rohit Koul, Hamidullah Sheikh, Altaf Sheikh, Mool Raj and Rajinder Singh. They have been engaged for six months on consolidated honorarium of Rs 40 thousands per months.
