J&K Forest Department excels at 27th All India Forest Sports Meet

JAMMU, Oct 20: The Jammu and Kashmir team of the Forest Department has brought significant laurels to the Union Territory by winning 15 medals at the 27th All India Forest Sports Meet held at Raipur, Chhattisgarh from October 16 to 20. The event was inaugurated by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Indian T20 cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav, alongside several dignitaries.
The meet attracted around 3,000 participants from across the country, including 52 participants representing Jammu and Kashmir. The Forest Department’s athletes showcased remarkable talent, securing a total of four gold medals, eight silver medals, and three bronze medals in various disciplines, including snooker, billiards, weightlifting, table tennis, cricket, and athletics. They also garnered accolades for their exceptional performances in cultural programs, particularly in solo singing.
The closing ceremony featured Member of Parliament Brijmohan Agarwal, who distributed medals to the winners. The outstanding dedication and hard work of the players were celebrated by department officials, including S. Senthil Kumar (IFS), the Nodal Officer, and Sports Officer Manzoor Ahmed Sheikh. They praised the athletes for their achievements and contributions, which have significantly enhanced the department’s prestige in the sports arena.
