NEW DELHI: A Food Festival was today held by the Principal Resident Commissioners of Jammu & Kashmir and Tamil Nadu states, R. K. Gupta and Jasbir Singh Bajaj respectively, at the Tamil Nadu Guest House in New Delhi.
The Food Festival was organized by the states of Jammu and Kashmir and Tamil Nadu under the Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat (EBSB) programme launched by the Prime Minister to undertake mutual engagements of states/UTs with one another.
Tamil Nadu has already organized its food festival at the J&K Guest House under the said programme.
The aim of the programme is to showcase a state’s cultural diversity and cultural ethos through art and craft exhibitions.
Special attractions of today’s festival were the J&K state’s traditional handicrafts and handloom products put on display by the J&K Arts Emporium. Honey and jam products produced by J&K Agro Industries were also put on display at the venue which was decorated with crewel decoration, papier mâché boxes, walnut boxes.
Besides officials of both the state houses, a large number of people were present on the occasion. The attendees said the festival offers a unique opportunity to understand other cultures through the flavour of food, adding it inculcates a feeling of national integration and bonding between people of different states.
