J&K declares 7 days mourning, holiday today

JAMMU, Aug 16: The Government today declared seven days mourning and holiday in all State Government offices/Boards/Corporations and educational institutions tomorrow as mark of respect to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who passed away today.
An official order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) said all J&K State Government offices/ Boards/ Corporations and educational institutions will remain closed on August 17 in the memory of departed soul.
“The State mourning will be observed for seven days from August 16 to 22, the National and State flags will fly at half mast during the State mourning on all buildings and places, where these are flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment during the period of mourning,” the order said.
