Srinagar, July 20: Scores of employees from Jammu and Kashmir Cements Limited today demanded release of their pending salaries.
A delegation of employees working at JK Cement told Excelsior that their salaries were withheld for last sixteen months and it has plunged their families on the verge of starvation.
They said while the people around the world are staying inside their homes to save themselves from the COVID 19, they are forced to search for livelihood to feed their families.
They said the Government should end their suffering by releasing their salaries without any further delay. They said that the families of at least 500 employees are passing through trying times in absence of salaries. “What will our children eat? Why don’t Government think about our families. We are suffering for last sixteen months”, an employee said.
They said Government is mulling to privatise the corporation without deciding their fate. “Whatever they want to do with it, they should first release our pending salaries to save our families for starvation,” another employee said.
The employees urged the Lt. Governor, G C Murmu, to intervene into the matter. “We want LG to look into the matter on humanitarian basis,” the employees said.
