JAMMU, Dec 16: J&K Branch of NIRC of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India organized a seminar on latest judicial pronouncements, notices and summons under the Income Tax (IT) law and burden of proof.
Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, J&K, Sangeeta Gupta was the chief guest and RN Sahay, Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), J&K was the guest of honor on the occasion. CA Kapil Goel from Delhi was the guest speaker.
In the first technical session, CA Kapil Goel, deliberated at length about the latest judicial pronouncements pertaining to the Income Tax Act. He also highlighted the recent measures of Income Tax Department for reducing litigation by revision of monetary limits of filing appeals by the Income Tax Department before Income Tax appellate Tribunal and High Courts and SLPs before Supreme Court.
Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, J&K, Sangeeta Gupta and RN Sahay, Commissioner (Appeals) J&K also addressed the gathering and highlighted the crucial role of chartered accountants in bridging the gap between assesses and department.
Sangeeta Gupta also apprised the members about various initiatives taken by the department to streamline its functioning.
Earlier, Chairman J&K Branch of ICAI, CA Anil Sharma presented the welcome address and emphasized on the importance of the topics of the seminar.
CA Shalay Razdan, Secretary J&K Branch of ICAI, conducted the proceedings of the seminar and CA Deepak Kapahi, Vice-Chairman introduced the dignitaries. The vote of thanks was presented by CA Vikram Garg, Ex-Chairman.
RK Gubgotra, Deputy Commissioner IT along with other officers of Income Tax Department and large number of Chartered Accountants were also present on the occasion.
