J&K Bank intensifies relief efforts for flood victims

SRINAGAR, Dec 16: Expanding its efforts to further help the flood-affected people of Valley, J&K Bank along with its partner MetLife India today started its support programme of distributing winter-kits among the severely-affected families.
Chairman and CEO Mushtaq Ahmad, who was flanked by Executive Presidents Parvez Ahmad and Abdul Hamid Banday kicked off the programme here at the bank’s Corporate Headquarters.
The 5000 winter-kits containing 10,000 blankets, 5,000 solar lamps, 5,000 hot-water bottles and 5,000 non-electric water purifiers were handed over to the respective Zonal Heads of the bank for onward distribution among the already mapped worst-hit families across their service areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Mushtaq Ahmad said that in the first phase of relief distribution, which is supported by our bancassurance partner MetLife India, 5,000 winter-kits will be delivered at the doors of these identified worst-hit families to equip them to face the harsh winters. The second phase of this support programme shall be carried out exclusively by J&K Bank that will cover another 18,000 plus such families, he added.
Executive President and Chairman of Relief Distribution Committee Parvez Ahmad presented detailed account of relief distribution mechanism of the bank.
Each winter-kit contains two warm blankets, solar lamps, non-electric drinking-water purifier and a hot-water rubber bottle.
Speaking on the occasion, Tarun Chugh, MD and CEO, PNB MetLife said that we have been settling claims in record time through our help desks. We also set up medical and relief camps for the local community, he added.
“We are also setting up winter tuition centers and trauma counselling for the underprivileged children support by our project with CRY and JKASW”, he added.
