JAMMU, Nov 7:
Keeping vigil on pumping in of money and other materials in view of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, police today recovered over Rs 18 lakh amount from different locations in Rajouri district. “Various check points were raised in the entire district to keep vigil on suspicious and unwanted activities ahead of Assembly polls,” a senior police official here said.
He said police, this afternoon, recovered an amount of Rs 18.80 lakh from different locations at check points raised in Kalakote area of Rajouri district.
“We have recovered the amount and handed it over to the flying squad team of Election Commission (EC) alongwith the persons to whom the money belonged for verification,” Haseeb Mughal, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri told UNI.
Mr Mughal said if the money was meant for election purpose, case would be registered accordingly but if it belongs to individuals, decision would be taken after completing the formalities and verifying the matter.
“We have directed the cops to remain alert and keep vigil on such activities so that election procedure do not get disturbed,” said the top cop. (AGENCIES)
