JAMMU, Oct 16: Vowing to restore dignity and honour of Dogra martyrs at any cost, JJSF today stated that unfinished agenda of martyrs of 1966 students’ agitation would be finished soon.
Three students—Brij Mohan, Subhash Chandra and Gulshan Handa were killed in GGM Science College premises whereas another student leader, Gurcharan Singh was killed on October 18, 1966, in Kanak Mandi, Jammu, when a students’ procession was marching through the streets of Jammu.
To pay homage to these student martyrs, four activists of JJSF—Atul Sudan, Anshu Sharma, Vishal Sharma and Sahil Sharma today sat on a three-day fast at Shaheedi Sthal outside GGM Science College.
Paying tributes to the student martyrs, Anshu Sharma, President MAM College said, entire Jammu province is indebted to these martyr students who sacrificed their lives for the future of Jammu.
“Since 1947 people of Jammu region are giving sacrifices to live a dignified life but unfortunately the successive governments have meted out a step motherly treatment with nationalist people of Jammu,” he said adding that in a democratic set up of J&K people of Jammu region have been discriminated by the ruling elites in one or the other.
JJSF Vice President, Atul Sudan said, political parties claiming to be champions of Jammu cause too sacrificed Jammu interests for the lust of power.
Secretary JJSF, Sunil Chouhan conducted proceedings of the function while Principal GGM Science College, Ravinder Tickoo and Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Physical Director of the College also spoke on the occasion. Among others present on the occasion were Manik Sharma, Gurjinder Singh, Abhishek Chib, Uttam Kumar, Aryan Sharma, Avinash Singh, Jasmeet Singh, Deepak Gupta, Abhijeet Singh, Simant Singh and staff of GGM Science College.
