Three students, namely Brij Mohan, Subhash Chandra and Gulshan Handa were killed in GGM Science College premises whereas another student leader, Gurcharan Singh was killed on October 18, 1966, in Kanak Mandi, Jammu, when a students’ procession was marching through the streets of Jammu.
To pay homage to these student martyrs, four activists of JJSF today sat on three-day long fast at Shaheedi Sthal outside GGM Science College. Those observing fast included Abhishek Sharma, Shubham Sakolia, Kanav Sharma and Anshul Choudhary.
While paying tributes to the student martyrs, Anshu Sharma President MAM College said that entire Jammu province is indebted to these martyr students who had sacrificed their lives for the future of Jammu.
Vice President, JJSF, Atul Sudan, in his address, pointed out that the political parties, which claimed to be champion of Jammu’s cause too have sacrificed Jammu’s interests for the lust of power. While recalling sacrifices of students, Atul Sudan said that every year October 16, 17 and 18 were observed as the Martyrs Day in Jammu as in 1966 four students had laid down their lives for the sake of Jammu people.

He said JJSF will start a massive agitation from the Shaheedi Sthal if administration fails to provide open admissions for all students in Jammu University and Cluster University.
Secretary JJSF, Sunil Chouhan conducted proceedings of the function while Principal GGM Science College, Ravinder Tickoo and Dr Vinod Bakshi Physical Director GGM Science College also spoke on the occasion.
