JAMMU, Feb 12: MLA Bani Jewan Lal kick started 14km road from GREF road to Hathan Sandroon under PMGSY which will be constructed at the an estimated cost of Rs 12crore.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion MLA said that road connectivity is the top priority of Centre and State Government especially in remote and rural areas. He said that Bani and Lohai Malhar areas can be developed as nearest tourist destination. This hilly area with a number of scenic places and shrines has immense tourism potential but was ignored by successive Governments. There is no road connectivity to worth scene places in Bani, he added.
He said there are some famous shrines in Bani where thousands of pilgrims from different parts of country pay obeisance. But all these Shrines lack road connectivity and basic facilities. Had these areas been connected with roads it would have not only provided job opportunities to thousands of unemployed youth of this area but would have also contributed the State economy. Since there is no scope of employment in this area except Government jobs which has very limited scope so exploitation of tourist places will be a source of employment generation.
The deplorable condition of Bani Constituency and choice of the people of this Constituency made me to quit Government service to join politics. The two most important sectors road connectivity and tourism which could have changed the fate of the poor unemployed youths of this area could not get the much needed of the successive representatives and the State Governments till 2014. The commissioning of Atal Setu Bridge over Ranjit Sagar Dam, Bani has become the nearest tourism destination in the State for the tourist of different parts of the country can visit here, he added.
He said the present N.D.A Government led by Narendra Modi has sanctioned 15 PMGSY roads in this Constituency and with the construction of these roads most of tourist and religious place will have road connectivity. He complimented Dr. Jitendra Singh, M.O.S in P.M.O who is always keen for the development of this area.
