SRINAGAR, Dec 14: Junior Engineers (Civil) fear stagnation in their careers as the Government is mulling to recruit Assistant Engineers directly against the 253 vacant posts in different departments.
A group of engineers working in PWD said the direct recruitment of engineers would plunge their careers into stagnation. “Public Service Commission has short listed the candidates for direct recruitment and the selected candidates will be placed above us in the seniority list. Most of the short listed candidates are 90s born and we will have no future to get promoted to higher posts”, said one JE.
The JEs further said that on 02 .01.2016, then Minister for PWD had asked the department to submit the file within seven days but unfortunately no action has been taken till date.
The engineers have been appointed as Junior Engineer (Civil), State cadre in Public Works (R&B) Department vide Govt. Order No. 209 PW(R&B) of 2009S dated 17.09.2009 and have become eligible for one post higher (Assistant Engineer) on 19.09.2012 as three years of service is mandatory for the promotion.
The JEs said there were as many as 253 vacancies available in PMGSY (JKRRDA) Jammu/Kashmir, PW(R&B) Jammu/Kashmir, Rural Development Department (RDD), Mughal Road Projects etc.
