JeM militant module busted

SRINAGAR, Jan 19 : Police today busted a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant module in Anantnag by arresting a recently recruited militant and a militant associate during two separate operations.
Police said that they along with Army’s 1st RR unit laid nakas at multiple places and conducted intensified checking.
“During checking one recently recruited militant of proscribed JeM outfit namely Ayaaz Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat, a resident of Shirpora Bala was apprehended and one Chinese pistol, one magazine and 7 live rounds were recovered from him,” police said.
A case FIR No. 11 of 2021 under Sections 13, 16, 18, 20 UAPA and 7/25IA Act has been registered at PS Anantnag in this regard.
And acting upon another information that militants were planning to lob grenade in Anantnag town, security forces laid surprise nakas at multiple places.
“During checking, one militant associate namely Rayees Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Rasheed, a resident of Chandhara Pampore of JeM militant outfit was apprehended at Mehendi Kadal and one hand grenade was recovered from his possession,” police said.
A case FIR No. 12 of 2021 under relevant Sections of law has been registered at PS Anantnag in this regard.
