Jeera futures edge higher on rising demand

NEW DELHI, Mar 9:  Jeera prices rose by Rs 370 to Rs 17,290 per quintal in futures market today after participants widened their positions backed by rising demand.
Moreover, restricted supplies in the domestic spot market and some export enquiries too supported the uptrend.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for April rose by Rs 370, or 2.19 per cent, to Rs 17,290 per quintal with an open interest of 7,578 lots.
Likewise, the spice for March traded higher by Rs 325, or 1.93 per cent, to Rs 17,200 per quintal in 1,443 lots.
Traders said, speculative positions built up by participants amid pick-up in domestic as well as export demand, mainly led to the rise in jeera prices at futures trade. (PTI)
