NEW DELHI, May 26: Jeera prices today fell by 1.36 per cent at Rs 17,710 per quintal in futures trading due to speculative selling triggered by increased supplies from producing regions.
Besides, weak exports demand fuelled the downtrend.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in June month fell by Rs 245, or 1.36 per cent, to Rs 17,710 per quintal with an open interest of 20,817 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in July moved down by Rs 220, or 1.20 per cent, to Rs 18,045 per quintal in 14,805 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by speculators due to higher supplies from producing regions and subdued exports demand mainly pulled down jeera prices at futures trade. (PTI)
