JAMMU, Aug 22: Jammu Development Authority (JDA) while continuing its drive against the encroachers’ retrieved prime land near Wave Mall and Belicharana.
As per official spokesman, the prime JDA land of above 2 kanals was encroached by some people adjacent to the boundary wall of Wave Mall having commercial value of more than 8 crore and camouflaged it by raising compound walls.
Besides some illegal structures were being raised in Belicharana area on the JDA land in connivance with local land mafia.
Vice Chairman, JDA after receipt of the report, immediately constituted a team and got the sites cleared by demolishing walls, gates and unauthorized structures.
As per Rajesh Kumar Shavan, Vice Chairman, JDA, the JDA is carrying out massive anti encroachment drive in Jammu and all encroachments are being identified in phased manner.
So far JDA has retrieved land more than 2000 kanals from the encroachers and the same is being fenced to protect it from re-encroachment.
He said that the SSB Battalion which had deposited 16 crore with JDA for acquisition of land three years ago but failed to get any possession owing to cases of encroachments has also been handed over 200 kanal land in Rathore Dhok, Nagrota and asked to start pitching tents.
Those who carried out the anti-encroachment drive in Belicharana included Murad Ali Naib Tehsildar, Girdawar, Patwari, Chief Khilafwarzi Officer Narinder Singh assisted by contingent of police from local police stations under the command of concerned SHOs.
