JDA digitization hoax

Transparency is the catchword with the Government. Yet that notwithstanding, it is doing everything to stall transparency just because by the force of habit the administration is not acclimatized to a transparent environ. Three years ago, the Government announced with usual fanfare and élan that JDA would get digitized and all records will be open as a step towards paperless correspondence. Digitization would certainly make things easier and quicker for the Authority and the public both. However, there are groves within groves and for reasons best known to JDA authorities digitization has not been even taken up what to say of completing it. The reason could be either the stakes work behind the curtain or that there is abject lethargy and incompetence at the administrative level. There is lack of will also. The world is fast moving to digitization considered a step towards good governance.
We know that on February 25, 2014, it was decided that Information Technology Department through its e-governance agency (JaKeGA) would develop required applications for JDA and the same would be hosted in State Data Center. Besides, JaKeGA will develop the application based on the requirements of Jammu Development Authority through outsourcing in a suitable manner. Nothing moved after this announcement. Not to talk of other aspects of the project even digitization of entire record of Jammu Development Authority has yet not become a reality despite huge amount sanctioned for the job. The Government must either deliver or stop making gimmicks of grandiose schemes and projects.
