JAMMU, Mar 1: As a land mark milestone, Jammu Development Authority has uploaded the first digital demarcation map along with Tatima Shajra of piece of land falling under Khasra No.1845/1734 at village Birpur on official website—www.jdajammu.in.
According to Sushma Chauhan, Vice-Chairperson of Jammu Development Authority, this land has been transferred to JDA under the provision of the J&K Vesting of Ownership Rights to the Occupants read along with SRO-263 dated August 9, 2004.
In this digital demarcation map, the latitude and longitude extents have been defined and reference points have been fixed, she said, adding as a consequence of this demarcation map a virtual fencing has been created and the enforcement wing of JDA will be in a better position to safeguard the land from encroachment.
She said that this exercise is a part of the overall initiative to create many such land banks for the land transferred to or acquired by JDA. Uploading the computerized demarcation map will be a long drawn exercise as creating GPS based land mapping is a tedious task. However, efforts are on to upload on the official website of JDA the details such as Khasra Nos and village name of the JDA land and the same will be completed within next 15 days.
“Once the land related information is uploaded on the website, it will be very useful for the general public who often find it difficult to verify the status of land before incurring into sale/purchase and other related land transactions”, the Vice-Chairperson said. She, however, said that the uploaded details will be only illustrative and not-exhaustive.
Separate notice will also be issued in this regard debarring the trespassers and encroachers on JDA land.
The first digital demarcation map has been uploaded on the website of the JDA by Tehsildar JDA (Zone B) Muzafar Malik and his revenue staff, Chief Khilafwarzi Officer Narinder Singh and Senior Programmer JDA, Baljeet Singh under the supervision of Director Land Management, Jatinder Singh.
