JCO martyred in Nowshera, grenades seized

JAMMU, Oct 5: A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of Army attained martyrdom in mortar shelling and firing by the Pakistani troops in Baba Khori area of Nowshera sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district this evening while police arrested a man with two hand grenades and 15 AK bullets.
Reports said Pakistan army resumed heavy shelling and firing on the LoC in Nowshera sector this evening. The Indian Army retaliated befittingly leading to heavy exchanges that lasted about an hour.
An Army JCO was martyred in the shelling.
At least, three Pakistan army personnel were reportedly killed in retaliatory action by the Indian side.
Ceasefire violations by the Pakistan army have become a routine on the LoC in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
Pakistan army has suffered heavy casualties and infrastructural damages in the Indian retaliation.
Meanwhile, on specific information, a police team conducted checking of a passenger vehicle at Dera Ki Gali (DKG) in Thanna Mandi area of Rajouri district.
Irfan Ahmed Jaral son of Bashir Ahmed Jaral, a resident of Rengear Keller in Shopian district of South Kashmir was arrested from the vehicle.
Two hand grenades and 15 AK bullets were recovered from his possession, sources said, adding that the man is being interrogated to ascertain source of grenades and AK bullets.
