SRINAGAR: Six infiltrators and a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of army were killed and four army personnel injured in a shootout in Nowgam sector near the Line of Control (LoC) in the frontier district of Kupwara since yesterday.
Army killed sixth infiltrator this morning taking the number of infiltrators killed to six since yesterday.
It may be mentioned here that group of at least six heavily armed militants infiltrated through Nowgam sector, also called Tut Mari Gali sector, last night and the army noticed their movement and launched an operation against them.
The army challenged these infiltrating militants leading to a fierce encounter which is still going on. Five militants and a JCO were killed and four army personnel including an army Major were injured in the gun battle since last night.
The sixth infiltrator was gunned down this morning. Massive searches are on in the area.
