‘Resolve issue of Gair Mumkin Khad’

JAMMU, Apr 23: A delegation of the Jammu Chamber of Commerce & Industry,  under the leadership of its president, Arun Gupta called on Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and discussed with him a wide range of issues pertaining to industry and general public.
While speaking on the occasion Arun Gupta said that time and again Chamber is putting the issues, but no proper response is received for the solution to these issues. He requested the Chief Minister to keep these issues on priority and committees be constituted  to settle these cases once for all.
The points relating to industrial sector highlighted and discussed in the meeting include,  turnover incentives, free hold rights, power amnesty, freezing of power tariff for five years, working capital interest subvention, land allotment cancellation issue and 20% capping in land allotment for sons of the soil.
While discussing the issue relating to Shahpur Kandi dam project agreement Gupta urged the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to develop the required transmission infrastructure so that we can get our due share of electricity on cheaper rates that will also solve the problem regarding shortage of electricity in our UT.
The other issues discussed in the meeting include change of land use, renewal/ execution of lease deeds (Sabzi Mandi, Fruit Mandi, Bahu Plaza, Shiva Market Railway Station) and issue relating to Gair Mumkin Khad.
The issue relating to cancellation of allotment notices issued to 32 shopkeepers at Bahu Plaza by JDA was also discussed in the meeting. The President provided some facts regarding the allotment of these shops and requested the Chief Minister to constitute a committee to suggest the remedial measures in this regard and issue necessary directions to JDA to put on hold the notices issued to these shopkeepers.
Gupta further emphasized that business community lacks a suitable, spacious place outside Chamber House to interact, relax and meet the dignitaries for professional activities. He requested the Chief Minister to allot atleast 20 Kanals of land in a around Jammu City for establishment of JCCI Business Club.
While replying on the issues, the Chief Minister assured that the issues discussed in the meeting shall receive due attention of the Government.
The others who accompanied the delegation included- Anil Gupta, senior vice president; Rajeev Gupta, junior vice president; Manish Gupta- secretary general, Rajesh Gupta- secretary, Rajesh Gupta -treasurer of JCCI and Anil Gupta- president, Bahu Plaza Association.
Another deputation, the Pir Panjal Welfare and Development Trust, led by Vivek Verma, called on the Chief Minister. The delegation brought forth a range of developmental priorities, reflecting the aspirations of the region’s residents.
The members underscored the immense tourism potential of Pir Panjal region and called for focused efforts to harness it sustainably. They also highlighted the importance of strengthening health and education infrastructure, ensuring reliable drinking water supply, and expanding employment opportunities, particularly for youth in border areas. Issues pertaining to the construction of community and individual bunkers, as well as further strengthening of the administrative framework in these areas, were also brought to the fore.
