SAMBA, July 6: In a drive against illegal mining, Samba Police seized a JCB and three Dumpers at Basantar Nallah, Samba, which were being used for digging Basanter riverbeds and for transportation of the minor minerals.
Acting on reliable information regarding illegal mining at Basanter Nallah, Paltha, a team of Police Station Samba rushed to the spot and caught the culprits red handed who were engaged in illegal mining.
A JCB bearing Chasis No. HAR3DXXTC02P55736 driven by Arjun Kumar and three Dumpers bearing Chasis No. 448832K3E1505, Regd. No. JK19-8386, Regd. No. JK02CN-0356 driven by Surinder Singh, Ajpal Singh & Hafiz Ahmed respectively were seized on the spot and the case, entrusted to Geology and Mining Department, Samba.
It is pertinent to mention here that mining of minor minerals is banned by Administration but the individuals are still extracting and stealing minerals illegally causing huge loss to the state exchequer.
In another case district Police Samba has arrested 10 gamblers in the jurisdiction of PS Vijaypur and recovered money of Rs 6,380 from their possession.
Acting on specific information regarding gambling, police team of PS Vijaypur raided the gambling spot at Ward No. 12 near Vishavkarma Temple, Vijaypur and arrested 10 gamblers along with stake money of Rs 6,380 and two sets of playing Cards. The police has registered a case under relevant sections of law against them.
