JAMMU, Mar 31: Senior leader of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Jayesh Gupta today slammed Power Development Department (PDD) for harassing the consumers by disconnecting their power supply on slight delay in payment of bills and taking too much time in restoring the same on receiving payment.
Addressing a press conference here today, Jayesh Gupta said that firstly PDD tormented the people by installing digital meters, then smart meters and finally prepaid meters, and made tall promises of providing 24×7 interrupted power supply to them but failed to implement the same on ground.
Gupta said every other day people approach him and complaint that in case of any delay in payment of electricity bill, the PDD does not take a minute of time to disconnect their power supply but on making payment, the power supply is not restored immediately and they take 2-3 days to restore the power supply and that too on repeated reminders to the concerned PDD officials.
The AAP leader slammed the PDD authorities for subjecting electricity users to such harassment and urged them to provide more time to consumers for bill payments and improve their services on the lines of telecom companies which instantly restore the telecom services of their consumers on making due payment.
Jayesh said due to poor services of PDD, consumers are suffering badly as examination season is going on and students are preparing for different exams, and at this crucial time disconnecting power supply by the PDD and then taking too much time in restoring the same, escalate their problems.
The AAP leader requested the higher ups in PDD to fix the issue at the earliest so that the people of Jammu do not face this problem.
