Jayesh Ranjan launches GHPF

 

Hyderabad, June 5 :  Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary of Industry & Commerce and IT in the Telangana Government, inaugurated the Greater Hyderabad Parisara Foundation (GHPF) on Monday on the eve of World Environment Day.
The not-for-profit organization aims to transform the city and its surroundings into a greener and healthier metropolis.
The GHPF, which represents the Hyderabad chapter of a larger movement, was initiated by a group of scientists, experts, and concerned citizens dedicated to ecologically transforming Indian cities grappling with extreme climate events, overflowing landfills, depleting groundwater, encroached water bodies, toxic air quality, and other forms of environmental degradation. The group launched the Greater Bengaluru Parisara Foundation in early 2022.
Speaking at the event, Jayesh Ranjan emphasized the need for collaboration with institutions working on similar goals and assured his support in facilitating such collaborations. He applauded 360LIFE for its commitment to restoring two step wells in the Osmania University campus and commended their innovative approach in constructing two tallest apartment buildings with vertical forests.
Prakash Belwadi, a renowned Theatre, Film, and Media personality and the founder of the Greater Bangalore Parisara Foundation (GBPF), highlighted the challenges faced by cities due to increasing urban migration. Belwadi stressed the importance of using scientific data in urban planning and informed that the newly launched GHPF would provide scientifically reviewed data for informed decision-making and urban planning.
K. Srikanth, Director of 360LIFE, emphasized their social enterprise approach with a focus on customers’ well-being and the development of environmentally-conscious buildings. He announced that G Ranjith Reddy, MP, and Arekapudi Gandhi, MLA, had agreed to implement net-zero initiatives in one colony each within their respective constituencies as part of the GHPF’s first initiative.
Smt Kalpana Ramesh, Founder of The Rain Water Project, shared her experience in restoring step wells in the city and expressed enthusiasm for the arrival of the GHPF in Hyderabad. Several other dignitaries, including experts in landscaping, urban forestry, and environmental management, also participated in the launch event
360LIFE, proud to support the establishment of the GHPF, showcased its vertical forest model apartments to demonstrate their commitment to environmentally harmonious development. The company plans to expand its sustainability-focused projects to other cities in India and internationally. (Agencies)
