RAJOURI, Mar 11: An Army soldier shot himself to death by using his service rifle in Thannamandi area of district Rajouri today.
Police sources said that Naik Swali Vinayak of 38 RR during duty hours at a security picket in Thannamandi area fired a bullet on self. Another jawan rushed towards him after hearing sound of fire and noticed him in pool of blood. The other soldiers and officers also rushed there and shifted him to nearby unit hospital but he died.
Later, they informed police which reached the spot and shifted the body to civil hospital for postmortem. After performing legal formalities, they handed over the body to the unit officers. The soldier hails from Buldana district of Maharashtra. His body was dispatched to his home village.
