Jawan killed in Akhoon’s house

JAMMU, Jan 8: A CRPF jawan posted at the residence of a former Legislator in Bhatindi area died due to bullet injuries under suspicious circumstances, a police official said.
Head constable Gaj Singh, a native of Haryana, was found lying on the ground by the security staff after gunshots were heard around midnight last night at the residence of former National Conference Legislator Mohammad Sayeed Akhoon in the city’s Bhatindi area, official added.
The constable was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him as brought dead, he said, adding that the body was handed over to CRPF officials after postmortem.
As per preliminary investigation, Singh received a call from his home around 11.30 pm just before the incident happened, official said after checking his call details. He said the bullet was fired from Singh’s weapon.
In this regard, cognizance has been taken by Bahu Fort Police.
