Javaid Rahi’s contribution figure in a book released by Delhi University VC

NEW DELHI, May 8: The exceptional work of renowned tribal researcher of J&K Dr Javaid Rahi found its place, as a chapter, in the book “India’s Greatest Reformers – 51 Extraordinary Stories” authored by Prof K L Johar, Vice-Chancellor of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar.
The book was released today by Prof Yogesh Singh (Vice Chancellor of Delhi University) at the Convocation Hall of Delhi University in presence of eminent dignitaries from across the country.
“India’s Greatest Reformers – 51 Extraordinary Stories” stands as a tribute to the visionaries and change makers who have left an indelible mark on the social fabric of our nation. Fifty-one inspiring stories including the story of Javaid Rahi figured in the book with renowned social reformers like Baba Amte, Dr B R Amedkar, Janki Devi Bajaj, Shalaini Moghe, E V Ramasawami, Raja Ram Mohan Rai, Durga Bhai Deshmukh and others who have shaped Indian society.
The chapter of the book “Javaid Rahi -The Tribal Prism” significantly highlights the contribution of Dr Javaid Rahi- who hails from Poonch district of J&K – in documenting the Tribal Culture and his extraordinary service for the Gujjar community. The chapter reads “As a writer of national repute, Dr Rahi has authored, compiled and edited over 300 books on Gujjar Culture, History, Folk-lore, and Literature”. He has compiled the first-ever Gojri-Concise Dictionary comprising 70 thousand words and meanings, besides Hindi-Gojri Dictionary and the Folk-lore Dictionary of Gujjar Tribe and documented the nomadic culture.
The book also underscores Dr Rahi’s dedicated efforts in serving tribal communities, particularly for empowering Gujjar Bakerwal Community. The book also highlight his role in the implementation of the Forest Right Act-2006, other Indian laws in J&K after 2019 and the impact on the ground.
