Jat Mahasabha convention on Jan 20, community to project issues

JAMMU, Jan 7: State president of All India Jat Mahasabha and former Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation, Ch Manmohan Singh today declared that a grand Jat convention is being held on Jan 20 here and many issues of the community will be projected strongly.
In a meeting of advisory committee of the Mahasabha held here today, where in about 300 members participated, the speakers raised the issues concerning Jat biradari. The members showed their discontent towards the relief amount received. They said an amount of Rs 30 lakhs per refugee and displaced family was announced as compensation but these families received just Rs 5.50 lakh, which is a big joke with them. The people are feeling cheated.
They asked for one time settlement for their families so that they can move forward with their lives. Many serious issues came up such as the ownership rights for the Custodian lands. They said Jat biradari had raised their concerns from time to time over the border situation.
Ch Manmohan Singh pointed out that 90% of the border residents are Jats. Whenever there is disturbance on border, these families are forced to move out of their homes but they have no where to go. Even if they move to some camps, their houses, cattle and lands are killed and destroyed. The Govt should implement the order issued which declares the area falling in 8 km of International Border be declared under RBA. Border residents must be given 5 marla of land each at a safe location.
He also demanded special recruitment drive for youth residing near the International border in Jammu, Samba and Kathua sectors. He said the Govt must organise skill development camps in these area so that the youth, who cannot get the benefit of proper education because of border situation may at least get a chance of getting jobs elsewhere. They said many farmers are unable to cultivate their lands due to border firing, The govt must compensate them.
Singh also declared that Jat Maha Samalen is being held on Jan 20, 2019 here and he appealed the biradari members to attend the same.
Prominent members Prof Ajit Singh Nagra, Ch Sat Paul, Col SR Choudhary, Ch Dian Chand, Ch Sham Lal, Ch Darshan Lal, Padam Choudhary, Rashpal Choudhary, Kamal Choudhary, Dr DL Choudhary, Mohd Arif Jat, Mohd Sayeed Jat, Ch Dev Raj, Capt Gopal Sandhu, Ch Shishu Paul, Sushma Choudhary, Ram Paul Sandhu and many others spoke on the occasion.
