KATHUA, Nov 27: MLA Kathua Rajiv Jasrotia today kick started blacktopping work of Sounthal road at the cost of Rs 70 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA said that the blacktopping of the road was a long pending demand of the local residents. He also said that no area of Kathua will be left behind in terms of development and it can be seen from the works being done in various areas of Kathua constituency.
He said that works pertaining to replacement of water and sewerage pipes are completed in many areas and many development works are in progress in certain areas. In coming time the results will come on ground pertaining to development in all spheres of Kathua, he added. He appealed the masses to contribute in the noble cause by promoting the vision of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi of building a “Clean and Green Nation”, he added.
After inaugurating the work, MLA while addressing the people said that Government has accorded top priority to upgradation of road infrastructure in the State. He said that the Government was laying special emphasis on construction, upgradation and maintenance of roads in the State. He said many roads and bridges have been completed while as work on various vital links and bridges would also be taken up under PMGSY and NABARD to ensure road connectivity to left out habitation in rural areas.
MLA further said that this stretch of road caters to a large population and is an essential link to the border areas. He said that Government is laying thrust on promotion of border tourism activities and upgrading roads is vital in this regard. “Upgradation of road infrastructure is one of the top-most priorities of the Government and it has taken up up-gradation and blacktopping of all important roads”, he said adding that this road will benefit the people adjoining areas.
He said that State has mooted a comprehensive developmental plan which aims at improving and augmenting vital infrastructure across the State to provide better amenities to the people. He said that all the concerned departments have been directed to work in tandem and ensure projects are completed in set timelines. He directed the executing agency to focus on maintaining quality of works.
He said, it is his priority to fulfil the needs of the residents of Kathua constituency and every requirement related to development is taken up on priority.
