SRINAGAR, Apr 25: Two day youth festival ‘Jashn-e-Baramulla’ which is being organised for people and youth in particular by army was today kicked off at Government Degree College Baramulla in North Kashmir.
A defence spokesman said celebrities including Dia Mirza for ‘Women Empowerment’ and Muhammad Azharuddin for ‘Youth Empowerment’ were major glamour and added much to the fanfare of the event. He said the multifaceted event hosting range of events included a job fair by 13 prominent companies wherein ‘Walk-in -Interviews’ and immediate Job placements offered to the youth was fundamental in meeting aspirations of the talented Youth of the region.
He said the Sufi Musical Concert by Shafi Sopori, Zunaid Mir Group and Wasim Group, reflecting upon rich culture, traditions and values of Kashmiriyat added to the glitter of the day. “Always forthcoming in offering services to the people, the Free Medical Camp attended to the medical needs of about 5000 persons, thus reassuring Awam of continued support by the Army.
“The event also included a ‘Know Your Army Exhibition’ to educate the youth on various job options available in the Army and was well received by the youth,” the defence spokesman said. He further said that among other attractions, the delicacies of Khana Khazana Food Plaza, from famous food joints of Srinagar were relished greatly by the populace. The children corner with joy rides was also a major crowd puller, said the spokesman.
Speaking on the occasion, GOC Dagger Division, Major General RP Kalita emphasized upon the rich culture and history of the Kashmir and lauded the hardwork, resilience and peaceful nature of Kashmiris even in face of adversities. The GOC also took this opportunity to exhort the youth to channelize their energy towards nation building and betterment of society.
DC Baramulla, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash and SSP Baramulla Imtiyaz Hussain also attended the event along with various prominent personalities of Baramulla Town. “The enthusiastic response from the Youth has once again highlighted the rapport between the army and locals, strengthening the hopes of peace and prosperity,” the defence spokesman added.
