NEW DELHI, Jan 17: Japan has committed soft loan of Rs 2620 crore for the public-private-partnership (PPP) plans of the Infrastructure Financing Project of IIFCL. The documents to this effect were exchanged between Rajesh Khullar, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Takeshi Yagi, Ambassador of Japan to India . These loans would be given through the Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) window operated through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) .
Japan has been financing several infrastructural projects through soft loans,the Delhi Metro project being the success story.
“India and Japan have had a long and fruitful history of bilateral development cooperation since 1958.In the last few years the economic partnership between India and Japan has steadily progressed. This further consolidates and strengthens the strategic and global partnership between India and Japan,” according to a Finance Ministry statement. (UNI)
