JAMMU, Mar 26: As a part of its efforts of the department to provide exposure to the farming community a group of 60 progressive farmers representing all the districts of Jammu division was flagged off to participate in five days training programme on organic farming at regional centre for organic farming, Chandigarh by Director Agriculture Jammu, Dr S S Jamwal from Krishi Bhawan here. The tour is being conducted under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA).
Dr Jamwal, while interacting with the farmers said that they have got a unique opportunity to learn about the different aspects of organic farming which is receiving increasing attention throughout the world because of growing consciousness in health hazards of chemical agriculture. Joint Director, Extension, A K Malhotra, Joint Director Inputs Sushil Sahni, Deputy Director (Central) C M Sharma, Deputy Director Training Sudesh Koul and other officers were also present.
Meanwhile, an agriculture exhibition cum Kissan Mela of district Ramban was held at Ramban today under the ATMA scheme.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Additional District Development Commissioner Ramban Pardeep Kumar in which the officers and staff from other allied departments including 250 progressive farmers also participated.
Chief Agriculture Officer Sunil Kaul briefed the gathering about the exhibition and also gave a detailed information about agri schemes.
K K Koul, AEO conducted the programme and described whole process about bio gas.
