JAMMU, June 1: Continuing with the aim regarding highlighting the increase in vascular disorders in Jammu region, Jammu Vascular Society organized a scientific session today on a very interesting topic “Atypical presentation of Varicose Vein disease Diagnostic and Management strategies”.
The meeting was attended by the members of the Jammu Vascular Society and invited distinguished faculty which focused on presentation and discussion regarding a very important clinical condition of varicose veins with ways and means of early diagnosis, management and indication regarding newer techniques of interventions
Present on the occasion were Prof Mohan Lal, Dr Noor Ali, Dr Ishtayak Ahmad Mir, Dr Arvind Kohli, Dr Shyam Singh and Dr Javed Bandey. Dr Bhumika Gupta (invited guest), Radiologist Dr Sohan Lal along with post graduate students and senior residents participated in the scientific session.
Dr Nair Furqan presented the clinical presentation diagnosis and management in case of Klippel Trenuauy syndrome with varicose veins. Dr Sohan Lal presented the role of duplex scan for varicose veins and management of cases with vein of Giacomini presenting with ascending or descending reflux. It was followed by healthy panel discussion regarding diagnosis and treatment of varicose vein with aberrations on the side lights
Convener of the Society, Dr Arvind Kohli, while speaking said that the incidence of Varicose Veins have shown rapid rise and mostly patients are asymptomatic for quiet a number of years when it starts giving symptoms of restless legs limb swelling deep vein thrombosis and venous ulcers and to prevent that patients should get treatment at the earliest.
He said the role of a good doppler duplex scan is most important for deciding the treatment. “Newer modality of treatment like RFA Laser and Glue management has revolutionized the surgery for varicose veins with these minimally invasive procedures the patients post operative recovery is smooth and brisk. However it is important to take note of aberrations and variations in venous diseases and accurate diagnosis is the crux,” he added.
