Governments come and go but no one pays attention to the problems of masses. It’s very disgusting to mark that billions have been spent on Jammu-Srinagar Highway but still it’s not traffic worthy. We are living in the modern era but when we travel on Jammu-Srinagar, it gives us a kind of feeling as if we are still in neo classical age. These days it takes almost 16 hours to cross this road when the journey is of only six hours. I started my journey after the announcement was made that traffic will be allowed from Jammu to Srinagar but the scene was different when I reached Ramban. Two way traffic had completely blocked the entire route, and not an even inch of land was available for pedestrians. It is requested to deploy only such people who are competent to the job of maintaining the road. It’s not only about the highway but adjoining areas like Pampore, BB Cantt. Once you get stuck there you will not get out of that mess at least for 3 -4 hours. We have a ray of hope that the new Government will find a proper mechanism to get out of such situations.
