JAMMU, June 7: A workshop on Food Safety with Hygiene and Sanitation for Street Food Vendors and Meat and poultry handlers was organised under the Eat Right Initiatives of Jammu Smart City Ltd (JSCL) which is also among the top 11 smart cities in India in the recently concluded Eat Right Smart City Challenge, a nationwide campaign by FSSAI.
The programme chief guest, Chairman Health & Sanitation, Arun Khanna, launched the workshop and while addressing the gathering, he said that this is such an important topic for which stakeholders and the public in general need to sensitize at the mass level and take this movement to every household.
Kulbhushan Khajuria, Joint Commissioner, Health and Sanitation was guest of honour during the event and he has highlighted the importance of this programme and appreciated JSCL initiatives for organising such workshop cum orientation programme to sensitize/aware the stake holders and general public at grassroot level.
Dr. Vinod Sharma, Municipal Health Officer, who was also present in the programme explained the role of Municipal Corporation for maintaining sanitary conditions in all the 75 wards of JMC and launching of evening auto service for the collection and disposal of meat/chicken waste generated in the shops.
Dr. Sushil Sharma and Satish Kumar, an IEC consultant from Mavis IT Services Pvt Ltd, New Delhi jointly gave a detailed presentation on the “Role of Hygiene and Sanitisation in Meat and Poultry”. Associate Prof Ashwani Khajuria, and Dr. Divya Sharma delivered presentations on various facts of food safety practices, in meat and slaughtering etc. Later, the function concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Parvesh Kumar.
