Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association contributes for stranded tourist

JAMMU, Sept 9: As a good will gesture and showing all sympathy for the flood victims, All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association, Jammu has contributed 500 food packets including potable water for the stranded people due to flash floods here.
The Association has also appealed to NGOs and civil society to come forward at this hour of grief and contribute more for sustenance of the victims.
A meeting of the Association was held under the leadership of Inderjeet Khajuria for expressing serious concern over the devastating rain and flood, which badly hit the entire State. The meet asked the Government to extend all kind of possible help to the affected people, who are facing precarious situation and especially stressed to extend all help to the stranded tourists.
The meet urged the Government to ensure the safety, food, medical assistance, shelter and safe return of the stranded tourists, especially in Kashmir Valley, to their native places.
Mentioning about the ongoing construction projects in Jammu, Inderjeet Khajuria said that maximum construction projects including artificial lakes, Golf and Hari Singh Park on which work was going on, had been badly damaged in the deluge. He demanded that more funds should be allocated to restart the damaged projects. He urged the State Government to immediately assess the loss occurred during the deluge and to send the same report to the Union Government to get more funds. He also appreciated the immediate steps taken by Prime Minister, Army, Air Force, Navy, paramilitary forces, State Government, civil administration and State police.
Others who were present in the meeting included Pawan Gupta, Baldev Raj, Bikram Singh, Sunil Suri, Gurdarshan Singh and M L Sharma.
