JAMMU, Apr 28: Jammu Division Selection events in Chess got underway at Nek Hotel, below Gummat, here today.
The events in girls section were held today. Meenal Gupta won all the events in which she participated, which included senior women, Under-19 and Under-17 girls. Arushi Kotwal won in Under-15 age category.
In Under-13, Amrita Gupta won the first place, while in Under-11 and Under-9, Radhika won the first place.
Senior men events will be held at the same venue, which will be followed by boys age category events tomorrow.
All the matches were conducted by Anil Kotwal, FIDE Arbiter.
Earlier, the events were declared open by Atul Kumar, President All J&K Chess Association in the presence of Baldev Raj and Dr AS Bhatia.
The selected players will represent J&K State in the forthcoming Nationals and also will be eligible for State Chess Championship.
