JAMMU, June 17: The J&K Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organized a six-day workshop on Goods and Service Tax (GST) for its members.
During this six days workshop,  twelve sessions were conducted  by twelve expert faculties namely CA Manoj Goyal, CA Yashu Goel, CA Tarun Arora, CA Rohit Vaswani, CA Piyush Bansal, CA Deepak Bholusaria, CA Vinod Kaushik, CA Pawan Rastogi, CA Bhavesh Gupta, CA Ankit Goel, CA Chitresh Gupta and CA Vinamar Gupta,  who covered each and every provision of GST including transition from current indirect tax regime to GST, Input Tax Credit on stock held in trade, detailed discussion on Return formats, accounting treatment of Debit/Credit notes, advance paid and received vouchers, location of supply, place of supply, effect of GST on CFAs/Dealers/Distributors/Goods Transport Agencies/Works Contractors/Job Workers/ Traders/ Manufacturers, penalty and assessment provisions and challenges under the GST Act.
The presentation on Tally Software release 6 (GST complaint) was given by Rohit Choudhary of M/s Anita International.
The J&K Branch of NIRC of the ICAI has put in limitless efforts to educate its members so that the motto of GST which is “One Nation One Tax” could be achieved in its true and pure sense.
Secretary J&K Branch of ICAI, CA. Anish Abrol conducted proceedings of the workshop with the support of the Vice-Chairman, J&K Branch of ICAI, CA Ajay Gupta.
CA Sudhir Arora, Chairman, J&K Branch of NIRC of the ICAI and CA Ashwani Khajuria, Ex-Chairman, J&K Branch of NIRC of the ICAI, welcomed and thanked the guest speakers as well as members for interactive sessions.
Chairman also appealed that GST implementation is the need of hour and without which the business community of Jammu and Kashmir is going to be affected.  The Chartered Accountants being a part of this tax reform right from the beginning are all geared up to perform their duties in the service of general public and of the country at large.
