Jammu admn creates facilities for over 5000 passengers: DDC

JAMMU, May 17: The district administration Jammu has taken various measures to provide better and adequate facilities for the people arriving from other parts of the country and quarantined here.
In a statement issued here, today the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Jammu, Sushma Chauhan said that the district administration has set up quarantine facility for more than 5000 passengers where the necessary arrangements of bedding and lodging have been put in place. She said various senior officers have been assigned the charge of looking after of these quarantine facilities.
She said mostly the building identified included Government buildings and quality arrangements have been made there so that all basic facilities are to be provided to people quarantined there. Sushma Chauhan said the Government has also made the arrangements for the meals through various caters at these quarantine centers. The paid quarantine facilities for the passengers at various hotels in Jammu have been identified and they are under the use of persons who want to avail the single room facility during the quarantine period.
The DDC said with the start of special trains reaching at Railway Station Jammu around 4000 passengers have already reached here. In addition to this 1500 passengers have reached here through road from Lakhanpur and Thandi Khui. Besides, about 700 passengers belonging to districts of Jammu, Samba and Kathua are also routed through district Jammu which were de-boarded at Railway Station Udhampur, she added.
Additional DC Jammu, Dr Tahir Hussian while maintaining that the guidelines issued by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare are implemented in letter and spirit said all passengers are tested for COVID-19 and administratively quarantined till the results of the tests are received. He said the administration is ensuring that 100 percent of the passengers entering Jammu from Railway Station are tested for COVID 19. He said various district level bays have been set up at the Railway Station itself for facilitating the testing and also breakfast and tea is provided to the passengers at Railway Station. Besides, an elaborate transport system has also been put in place by the district administration to ensure the orderly exit of the passengers, he added.
He said this all is being done so that the passengers don’t feel any inconvenience during their quarantine in Jammu and our utmost efforts remain that the tests of quarantined people should each as early as possible so that they can be send to their homes.
