*3-day prog to promote ‘Eat Right India Movement’

JAMMU, Nov 27: The “Swasth Bharat Yatra”, which was launched on October 16 at Leh, today reached Jammu, where the whole team of the campaign including cyclists was given a warm reception by Food Safety team of Jammu.
The Yatra with the theme “Eat Right India” was launched from Leh by Commissioner, Food Safety, J&K, on the occasion of World Food Day, which is celebrated worldwide on October 16.

After passing through many districts of the State, the Yatra this morning reached at Hari Palace, Jammu, where a grand reception was given to the participants with ‘Tilak ceremony’ by the Food Safety team lead by Dr Pravesh Kumar (Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Jammu Municipal limits) under the supervision of Dr Abdul Kabir Dar (Commissioner, Food Safety, J&K). A cultural programme was also organized on the occasion.
Dr AC Mishra (Joint Director, FSSAI, New Delhi) was the main guest of the event. Speaking on the occasion, he explained in detail about “Eat Right India Movement”. He also administered the pledge of eating healthy to all those present on the occasion.
Earlier, while presenting welcome address, Dr Pravesh Kumar briefed the gathering about the objective of the campaign ‘Swasth Bharat Yatra’. He disclosed that to promote ‘Eat Right India’ movement, Food Safety team is organizing many activities and today’s function was part of these activities, which will last till November 29.
Food Safety officers, Hans Raj, Dilip Singh and Dr Sabha were present in the function. Also present were a large number of audiences comprises of Anganwadi workers from Social Welfare Department, college and school students, NCC Cadets from Government Women College Gandhi Nagar and representatives of the reputed NGO “SAVE” headed by Rumpy Madaan along with people.
Later in the day, a convention regarding the “Eat Right India” movement was held at the Hotel Asia which was attended by the various food-related associations and reputed food business operators and officials from various departments.
As a part of the three-day event, Prabhat Pheri will be taken out tomorrow at 8 AM from Green Belt Park, Gandhi Nagar to Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar. Later, in the day, a Food Safety Mela, a poster making competition and some other activities related to the Food Safety shall be organized at GCW Gandhi Nagar from 11 AM onwards.
