JAMMU, June 27: Fed up with 19 hour power cut and harassment meted to the camp inmates through the hands of authorities the Jagti camp inmates held a protest demonstration today in the camp and warned to take to streets and intensify agitation in case the power supply was not supplied on the same analogy as it is supplied to the other parts of the State.
The irate camp inmates raising slogans against the Government held it responsible for their miserable condition saying that during the construction of the so called township they were promised to be provided all facilities free of cost till their honourable return to Kashmir valley but for last two years the camp did not get more than six hours power supply a day which is totally a violation of human rights.
They said that though Government was duty bound to provide all facilities to the displaced people from Valley who were thrown out due to its ineptness and failure to control Pak sponsored terrorism the Government was adding to the miseries of the displaced people.
Meanwhile, to take the stock of the situation, the Chief Engineer M&RE, Shahnaz Goni along with civil and police officers visited the Jagti camp and held a meeting with the camp representatives.
The leaders of AMCCC Desh Rattan, JTC, Shadi Lal Pandita, JCC,Dilip Pandita and SP Migrant Cell Mr Labroo warned to intensify agitation in case the issue was not settled once for all.
The president KHC, ML Thusoo, its convener P L Koul Badgami and Apex Committee Member Roshan Lal Raina have also criticized the Government for putting Jagti inmates to such hardships.
