JAMMU, Feb 8: Joint Action Committee, J&K (General Category) today denounced State BJP leaders for contemplating the move to reintroduce reservation in promotions in J&K.
A meeting of the JAC (GC) in this connection was held today under the leadership of Ved Prakash Sharma, president, Brahman Sabha and convener, JAC, Bishen Singh, general secretary, Amar Kashtriya Rajput Sabha, Madan Lal Narad, general secretary, AVM and Ram Pal Seth, president, AVM.
While speaking on the occasion, Ved Prakash Sharma strongly condemned the action of BJP to murder the Rule of Law. He said that some BJP leaders with vested interests are trying to overrule the Supreme Court order on reservation in promotions without following laid down law but the JAC (GC) will fight tirelessly for the equality and justice.
He further said that the sovereignty of Constitution of J&K which is guaranteed by Article 370 under the Constitution of India and upheld in various judgments of Supreme Court gives immunity against any amendments even if passed by centre and are not directly applicable to this state.
Madan Narad said that BJP is hell bent to seek electoral favours on the basis of reservations in promotions. The hue and cry created by vested elements are aimed at just creating atmosphere of animosity among the communities by taking partisan approach, he said, adding, that political parties and leaders and especially those occupying constitutional positions must desist from such approach and allow the law to take its course.
